Bodrum Bior (Bodrum International Optimist Regatta)

The XIV. Bodrum International Optimist Regatta (BIOR) will take place between 6–10 May 2026 in the world‑famous sailing destination Bodrum, Turkey. Hosted by B.B. Bodrum Sailing Club in cooperation with the Turkish Sailing Federation and Bodrum Municipality, BIOR 2026 is one of the most exciting international Optimist events in the Mediterranean for young sailors and their teams.

Bodrumspor Sailing Branch had started operating with the support of Bodrum Marine Association in 2002. The branch took the name of Bodrum Belediyesi Bodrumspor Clup Sailing Branch, by merging with the Bodrum Belediyespor Sports Club Sailing Branch. The branch still practicing in Kayıkhane Facilities in İçmeler, had been successfull in and outside the country since the time it was first launched. Following these achievements, the branch, had started the BODRUM INTERNATIONAL OPTIMIST REGATTA in 2013, with the help of Bodrum City Hall. This organisation has become one of the highest attended organisation in its classification, throughout the world in such a short time.

Who can participate?

Here’s the details

  • Optimist Senior: born between 2011–2014
  • Optimist Junior: born in 2015–2016
  • Optimist Bambino: born in 2017 and later

All registrations are made online via the official website (www.bodrumsporyelken.org). The entry fee is 80 Euro and the deadline for entries is 20 April 2026. Late entries will not be accepted. Final on‑site registration must be completed by Wednesday, 6 May 2026 at 17:00.

Racing Format and Special Competitions

According to the number of participants, all categories may start together, or the Organizing Committee may divide them into separate fleets (Senior, Junior, Bambino). The decision will be announced after pre‑registration closes on 20 April 2026.

In addition to fleet racing, BIOR 2026 offers:

  • Country Cup: The best female and male sailors of each country (based on the first two days of fleet races) will qualify to race in the BIOR Country Cup.
  • Team Racing: Based on the first day’s fleet results, teams will be formed to compete in exciting team races on 8–10 May 2026, after fleet racing.

A total of 12 races are scheduled (up to 3 races per day). Three completed races are required to constitute a valid championship, and standard low-point scoring with one discard after 4 or more races will apply.

Event Program (6–10 May 2026)

The regatta starts on Wednesday, 6 May with registration from 10:00 to 17:00, followed by a practice race at 15:00 and the official opening ceremony at 18:30. Each race day begins with a coach meeting at 09:30 and the first warning signal at 11:00. The last warning signal of the event is planned for Sunday, 10 May at 17:00, followed by the prize giving ceremony at 18:30.

  • Top 3 countries (Country Cup results)
  • Top 3 teams (Team Racing results)
